Volunteer

Burning Permits
Burning Permits can be picked up at the Village Office Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. Permits are valid for three days and are free of charge.
The Village of McAdam follows the Provincial guidelines during the burn season. For more information, check out the Fire Watch for NB.
Health Services
Clinical Services
- Lab Services – On site blood collection and specimen drop off available
- ECG – Monday to Friday, walk-in or pre-booked appointment
- Holter monitoring (heart test) – Monday to Friday, by appointment
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Out patient treatments (dressings, IV therapy)
- Patient education
- smoking cessation
Dietitian Services
- Nutrition counselling with Registered Dietitian (twice per month – variable) – physician referral not necessary)
- Patient education – individual or in groups
Mental Health Services
- Services, available one day every 2 weeks, by appointment for adults
- Services available by appointment for children (frequency based on need)
Public Health Services
- Early childhood initiatives – Well Child and Toddler Screening clinics. Once a month, by appointment.
- Healthy Learner Nurse – collaborate with school on health issues
Staff
Physicians:
- Dr. Smith – Every other Monday, excluding holidays (8am – 4pm)
- Dr. Olmstead – Wednesdays (8am – 1pm)
Nurse Practitioner:
- Four days per week, variable – A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who provides primary health-care services such as:
- Order tests like X-rays, ultrasound, lab, and mammagram
- Prescribe medications
- Provide chronic disease management for diseases such as diabetes and high-blood pressure
- Treat minor injuries such as sprains or cuts
- Provide physical check up and tests such as PAP test, breast exam, prostate test
- Refer patients to specialists, if required.
Nursing Staff
- Nurses provide assessment, treatment and education services within their scope of practice and in collaboration with nurse practitioners and physicians.
- General walk-in services to see a nurse does not require an appointment
Community Development
- Community Development available Monday to Friday by appointment
- Services include health promotion, guidance for patients on how to access services. The Community Developer facilitates community involvement to address health priorities in the community
