Public Notice – Rabies Vaccine Baiting

By Announcements, News

The Department of Natural Resources is expected to distribute rabies vaccine baits throughout the municipality in August.

Residents are asked to please note:

  • Do not handle vaccine baits with bare hands. If contact occurs, wash your hands thoroughly.
  • The baits are not expected to harm pets; however, pets should not be allowed to ingest them. If your pet eats a bait, it may experience stomach upset. Please contact your veterinarian if this occurs.
  • Following bait distribution, residents are encouraged to keep dogs on leashes or limit their roaming for one to two weeks. This will give raccoons a better opportunity to find and consume the baits.

Thank you for helping support rabies prevention efforts in our community.

Boil Order Rescinded

By Announcements, News

🚰 BOIL WATER ORDER LIFTED 🚰
Great news for McAdam residents! The official boil water advisory has been fully rescinded.

As per GNB guidelines:
After an advisory has been lifted, any pipe or device containing tap water should be cleaned:
flush out water pipes to ensure the water is safe before using. To do this, turn on cold water at all faucets and run the water until it gets noticeably colder, which can take several minutes. You should begin with the faucet that is highest in your home or building and make your way to the bottom, turning on all faucets.
run water softeners through a regeneration cycle, following the manufacturer’s directions
drain and refill hot water tanks set below 45°C/110°F (normal setting is 60°C/140°F)
remove and clean all screens and aerators on taps
replace water filters in water treatment devices, following the manufacturer’s instructions
properly flush and sanitize all ice, drink and ice cream machines before reuse
