Village of McAdam 3rd Annual Potluck

This year it will be an INTERNATIONAL POTLUCK.

When:   Saturday March 16th 2019

Where:   McAdam Lions Club

Time:     Dinner 6.00 – 7.00 p.m  Entertainment 7.00 – 8.30 p.m.

Cost:      Bring a dish with you and admission is FREE.

               $10.00 per person or $20 per family of four

If you are bringing a dish, please call the village office 784-2293 and let us know what your are bringing.

Babysitting will be available on this night in the Morning Program room.  If you would like to drop of your child/children while you enjoy the night, please do.  The cost is $15 per family for the night.  The proceeds from babysitting will go towards the 7th, 8th and 9th grade Quebec trip.

The proceeds from the potluck will go towards the new community van.

Public Notice RE: Past Due Water and Sewer Accounts

Village of McAdam property owners with past due water and sewer accounts are required to pay their accounts in full on or before April 7, 2019 to avoid disconnection of services.

Once disconnection of water and sewer services is made, an additional charge of $60.00 is required before a re-connection of water services takes place. A further charge of $196.00 plus the cost of installing a shut-off valve, estimated cost $700.00, is required before a re-connection of sewer services take place.

For Village property owners with past due accounts after the 7th of April, disconnections are scheduled to begin April 8th, 2019.

NO FURTHER NOTIFICATION WILL BE GIVEN.

Home Building Lots for $1 in McAdam!

The Village of McAdam is pleased to announce it has 16 serviced (water and sewer) building lots within the Village available for sale. One Lot per applicant will be sold for $1 on a first come first served basis. The conditions of sale are:

  1. The Lot purchased shall not be transferred to a third party until a single family dwelling is constructed on the Lot;
  2. The single family dwelling to be constructed on the Lot must comply with all applicable municipal by-laws, Provincial laws and regulations and Canadian National Building Code standards. The dwelling must have a minimum living area of 1,200 square feet;
  3. Construction of the single family dwelling on the Lot must be completed within 2 years from the date of purchaser of the Lot;
  4. Water and sewer services will be provided to the edge of the single family dwelling constructed on the Lot. Internal connection to the Village water and sewer lines is the responsibility of the Lot owner and must be completed by a licensed plumber.
  5. The Lot owner is responsible for provision of electrical service to the Lot and dwelling;
  6. A person applying to purchase a Lot will be required to sign an Agreement of Purchase and Sale and shall make a $2,500.00 performance payment. The performance payment will be returned to the Purchaser upon completion of construction of the single family dwelling on the Lot. In the event the construction of a single family dwelling is not completed within the 2 year period, it shall be forfeited and the subject Lot shall be transferred to the Village of McAdam;
  7. The Applicant will be responsible for payment of all legal fees associated with the purchase of a Lot.

All matters pertaining to Lot condition, environmental matters, site preparation and dwelling construction are the responsibility of the Applicant.

Crime Stoppers is hosting a Community meeting.
When: Tuesday, March 27th @ 7:00 pm
Location: McAdam Lions Community Centre

Claude Trembly will be here to provide information on Crime Stoppers, respond to several questions that came up during the Town Hall meeting held here in February and answer your queries received through numerous calls, texts and e-mails.

We look forward to seeing you at the community meeting on 27 March and sharing with you how Crime Stoppers may be able to improve personal security in McAdam.

STEAM Program – March 8th 1-4:30pm – Join us for a fun afternoon of building and experimenting with what supplies make the strongest towers and how much cargo paper airplanes can carry. (Suggested age of 8+)

FREE Income Tax Clinic – March 15th 1-4pm – Need help with your income tax? If you need assistance our volunteer can help you file your tax return. Contact the library to book a 30 minute appointment or for more information. Another clinic will be held April 12th.

Recipe Swap – March 20th 6:30-8pm – Join us for a night of good food and good company! Bring a dish and its recipe to the library for the Spring Recipe Swap. Our theme is Quick & Easy Casseroles. This event is open to all ages.
