I would like to take a moment of your time to let you know that the McAdam Village Council is working very hard on your behalf to adopt policies that will help limit the spread of COVID-19 within the community while maintaining essential services. We are also developing and ensuring plans are in place to deal with future aspects of the disease. From the start of this disease in Canada, our Council has been in the forefront in developing plans on how to react to COVID-19. In consultation with community business leaders and citizens, we were the first community in New Brunswick to close community activities and events where the public might gather in groups. We initiated weekly meetings to discuss the spread and prepare our community for its arrival by developing response plans based on a broad spectrum of issues including: length of outbreak and spread; community staffing; safety and security; food, water, shelter; health and medical; energy, power, fuel; communications; economics; transportation; hazardous materials; human consequences of COVID-19; and defining the triggers that will allow our community to return to some semblance of normal.
Our response to COVID-19 is also being done in conjunction with Provincial authorities. We are having one to two phone and Zoom conference calls per week each with: The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization; Dr. Lamptey, Regional Medical Officer of Health; Dr. Barker, Southern Regional Officer of Health; and, The Department of Environment and Local Government regarding water and waste water essential operations. Discussions during these meetings provide our community with the most up to date information dealing with the spread of COVID-19 as well the most current Federal and Provincial policies and guidelines.
Our Council is dedicated to the well-being of our community. We will maintain essential services such as policing, water and sewer, fire fighting and garbage collection. We will also continue to post the most recent information we have regarding COVID-19 on our Face Book and Village web pages. You may also reach out to us at anytime if you have questions or concerns. Rest assured, we will evolve our efforts to best serve you and the community while protecting the health of residents and Village staff.
Our nation’s best and brightest are working 24/7 on therapies to minimize the effects of COVID-19 and develop a vaccine to protect us. They will succeed. We just have to be patient and band together to support one another until they do. We are all in this together and together we will get through this.
