Second CPR Dedication Bench

For nearly a century, the Canadian Pacific Railway, was a major employer within the Village of McAdam. Not only did the railway provide a livelihood for thousands of men and women, but also played a significant role in building the community.

In honour of the CPR workers, the McAdam Beautification Committee would like to erect a second CPR Dedication Bench for those with us, and those who have passed. Appropriately, the granite bench will be placed in “Whistle Stop Park”, where the names will be displayed for a lifetime.

The cost to purchase a name is $100. Please include the first and last name. Cash or cheques can be received at the McAdam Village Office, at 146 Saunders Rd, E6J-1L2, between 9am to 4pm weekdays. Email transfers can be sent to adonahue@mcadamnb.com.   We are able to accommodate 72 names on the bench.

Cancellation of the 2020 McAdam Lake Family Paddle

The 2020 McAdam Lake Family Paddle has become, unfortunately another victim of COVID-19.  To help minimize the opportunity for COVID-19 spread within our community, the Village of McAdam and the McAdam Heart and Home Corporation have decided to cancel the 2020 McAdam Lake Family Paddle.  It was not an easy decision as the paddle has gained a loyal and growing group of participants and sponsors wanting to have a family day while supporting a worthy charity.  Thank you ever so much for all your support of this event and we look forward to hosting the 2021 McAdam Lake Family Paddle.  We hope to see you there.

Due to Covid-19, the McAdam Railway Station will not be open to the public during the months of June and July 2020.  Our decision does not come easy, but is a necessary step to ensure that safety comes first for visitors and friends to our Village.

In accordance with the Department of Health Policies and Procedures, guidelines are being established that will hopefully make it possible to open the McAdam Railway Station at a later date.  Before the end of July, a public announcement will be made to advise the status moving forward with the Station being open or continuing to remain closed during the month of August.

Your co-operation and understanding during this time of uncertainty is very much appreciated.  Like you, we are also struggling with the ‘New Normal”, and our priority as well is to ensure the health and safety of everyone.  When we do re-open for visitors, it will be done in a well-planned manner in accordance with the Province of New Brunswick’s Covid-19 Operational Plan.
