Attention Boaters and Campers on Spednic Lake

Attention Boaters and Campers on Spednic Lake

The Village of McAdam is in the process of purchasing a new dock for the boat launch at St Croix beach. It is presently being constructed by Excel Manufacturing in Harvey Station and should be ready for the summer boating season. The new dock will be 24 feet in length by 8 feet wide with 26 feet by 4 wide walkway, it is constructed of aluminum framing with wooden decking. Village Council applied for and received a $5000. grant from the Community Investment Fund to help with the cost of the project. Unfortunately, this amount only covers approximately 50% of the total and that is why we need assistance from those who access the lake via the St Croix launch.

In 2012 council solicited financial help from lake users to purchase badly needed concrete pads at the boat launch. Not surprisingly, a large number of people stepped up and helped with donations and volunteer work which enabled us to install the pads. Once again, we are seeking financial assistance from those people who use the St Croix boat launch. All donations of any denomination are welcome and all monies will go directly to the purchase of the dock. Unfortunately, until we have secured the total funds needed, the dock cannot be purchased. Therefore, at this time there will not be a dock in place at St Croix until enough funds have been raised. If you would like to help and make a financial donation please contact the village office at 784-2293 or you can e-transfer to adonahue@mcadamnb.com

A message from Village Council for Thursday, April 23rd, 2020

By News, Uncategorized

The Village Council would like to let you know the Public Health’s update on COVID-19 today (22 Apr) was extremely positive and we wanted to share some of it with you.

  • Testing at the microbiology lab in Moncton identified no new cases of the disease today.
  • Total number of cases in New Brunswick remains at 118.
  • Of the confirmed cases, 104 persons have recovered.
  • Total testing to date is 11,541.

They also wanted to remind everyone:

  • Under the State of Emergency, everyone is prohibited from knowingly approaching within 2 metres of every other person, except persons with which they reside.
  • Law enforcement officials have been actively enforcing the social distancing protocols. Most of those efforts have been on educating people so they are aware of what they need to do. However, they have begun applying fines to those not socially distancing under the state of emergency guidelines.
  • People entering the Province from anywhere outside the Province need to self isolate for 14 days.
  • Most people have made a point of complying with the directives.

To update you on the McAdam Clinic operations they are still screening people at the door. There is a PPE station either side of the Manor connecting door so no one goes between the Clinic and the Manor without full PPE as a precaution. They are still doing 70% of the routine work – labs, etc. Nancy, Dr. Ramsey and Dr. Smith are all doing about 80% phone visits and 20% face to face visits with patients. They have one room set up for visits and it is cleaned between patients. The Clinic staff are doing everything they can to ensure every person who needs to be seen has the opportunity.

As we have said before, the Village Council want to thank all McAdamites for their support in social distancing and helping their friends and neighbours through these stressful times. For us and many of you, there is no greater place to live than in McAdam. Reach out to us at anytime if you have any questions or concerns.

We are all in this together and together we will get through this.

VILLAGE OF MCADAM

146 SAUNDERS ROAD

MCADAM, NB   E6J 1L2

I and the Village Council want to thank all McAdamites for their support in social distancing and helping their friends and neighbours through these stressful times. For us and many of you, there is no greater place to live than in McAdam.

The news is starting to turn for the better with word of the curve flattening in Canada, monetary assistance for those being adversely affected financially, technological advancements in testing, positive results in the race to develop new drugs, work on potential some odd 70 vaccines, that New Brunswick has one of the lowest infection rates in the Country and politicians and industry leaders beginning discussions on how to bring the economy back. There is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

However, despite all this good and hope filled news, we would like to caution that many of these remedies are still quite a way off in the future with a cure potentially 12 to 18 months away. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves emotionally to still face several weeks if not months of maintaining our social distancing efforts.

Social distancing has worked for us here in the Village. To date, we have not had any instances of COVID-19. Thank-you.

Our Manor has been safe for our loved ones. This is testament to the dedicated staff of both the Manor and the Clinic and the procedures they have put in place. Thank you.

To the McAdamites supporting us by working in the grocery store, pharmacy, garages, hardware stores, Post office and those carrying out municipal operations along with everyone keeping the trucks and trains moving, thank you too for being there.

Our Council is dedicated to the well-being of our community. We will maintain essential services such as policing, water and sewer, fire fighting and garbage collection. We will also continue to post the most recent information we have regarding COVID-19 on our Face Book and Village web pages. You may also reach out to us at anytime if you have questions or concerns. Rest assured, we will evolve our efforts to best serve you and the community while protecting the health of residents and Village staff.

We are all in this together and together we will get through this.
