Spring Clean Up

SPRING CLEAN UP

Beginning May 13th- 16th, 2019

The McAdam Village Council is pleased to announce the annual Spring Clean Up Day will commence on May 13th beginning at 8:00 am- 8:00 pm. The location will be held open so that you can dispose of items normally not accepted at the curb side on regular collection day. It will be the resident’s responsibility to bring their garbage to the location, there will be someone available to help unload your vehicle at the dates and times mentioned.
ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR DISPOSAL ARE:
VEHICLE AND VEHICLE PARTS, PAPER AND FIBRE PRODUCTS, BRUSH, TREES, BRICKS OR CONCRETE BLOCKS, CONCRETE PIECES, ASPHALT, ROCKS, SAND, GRAVEL AND CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS.
Any Garbage, Building, materials and Construction debris left at the curb side during Clean Up Campaign will not be picked up. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.
For any seniors with mobility issues, please contact the Village Office to make arrangements.
This is an opportunity for you to dispose of products that are cluttering your yard, basement or garage. As discussed at the previous public meeting, this Spring Clean Up is provided to assist with the beautification of the Village of McAdam.

1 POSITION AVAILABLE: Outdoor Ambassador (12 weeks/40 hours/week/$11.50/hr)

(a) WHO MAY APPLY:
(i) between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive);
(ii) has been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intends to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year .

Job Specification: Employee will assist in community beautification through garden maintenance, litter removal, tree trimming, park maintenance, flower watering, nature trail maintenance, community engagement and assist in general with beautification of McAdam.

Do I Need to Be Returning to School in Order to Qualify?

Yes. Include with your application your acceptance letter from the post secondary institution that you will be attending in September, 2019.

Mother’s Day Pendant Raffle

McAdam Library are holding a Mother’s Day Pendant Raffle.  The pendant is 10k gold with diamonds and valued over $300.

Tickets are on sale at the library, Scotiabank and the Village office.

$5 for 1 ticket

$10 for 3 tickets

Proceeds will go to the library board.

Draw date is 10th May 2019

      The July 1st committee have been hard at work planning this year’s events.  There are some new and some old favourites which include:

  • Push-Cart Derby
  • Loonie Toss
  • Pie Eating Contest

Also “Jimmy the Janitor” will be performing.

Date:  April 10, 2019

Project:  Demolition and Removal of Building and debris.
Address:  Duplex – 29 Stannix Street and 24 Rose Street.

Scope of Work:  The contract shall include the supply and all labor, equipment, material and services necessary to carry out the following work.

1.  The contractor shall demolish and remove the building and debris located on the site at 29 Stannix Street and 24 Rose Street, McAdam N.B.
2.  The construction materials from the demolition of the building and the contents within the building must be removed to an approved Department of Environment disposal site.
3.  All footings and foundations are to be removed and excavated areas shall be backfilled with clean fill and compacted.  The site grade shall match existing.
4.  Must coordinate with the Village of McAdam the capping off of any existing water and sewer lines.  All costs are the bidder’s responsibility.
5.  Disconnection of electrical and telecommunication lines back to pole.
6.  Contractor to complete work by May 31, 2019.
7.  Contractor shall be responsible to obtain all applicable permits to perform the specified work.
8.  Contractor is responsible for any damage to adjacent property, overhead powerlines, infrastructure or street.
Note:  The contractor must provide proof of liability insurance and Worksafe N.B. compensation insurance when placing Quotation.

INVITATION TO BID – NATURE TRAIL UPGRADES

Project Location:  Behind 96 Saunders Rd, McAdam, NB  E6J 1L2 (McAdam Train Station)

Project Overview:  Nature Trail Upgrade includes the repair, demolition and construction of five walking bridges, three covered shelters and two benches.

Project Details/Specifications:

a)  Repair to existing (1) covered bridge (34′ x 8′) including roof replacement, replacement of sills, elevate and reinforce structural support.

b)  Demolition and construction of walking bridge (42′ x 6′) including handrails.

c)  Demolition and construction of walking bridge (48′ x 6′) including handrails.

d)  Demolition and construction of walking bridge (48′ x 6′) including handrails.

e)  Demolition and construction of walking bridge (17′ x 5′)

f)  Demolition and construction of (3) covered shelters.  Two (7′ x 5′) and one (8′ x 10′)

g)  Demolition and construction of two wooden benches, each 5′ in length

Timeline:  Work must commence no later than May 13th 2019, and be completed by June 7th 2019.

Additional requirements:

  • Bridges require pressure treated lumber
  • Bidder is responsible for the disposal of all construction and demolition refuse.
  • Work must be compliant with building code, as prescribed by the Village of McAdam Building Inspector.
  • Bidder must be in good standing with WorkSafe NB
  • Quote must be broken into each specification (a-g)
