Gertrude Rosella Walsh

The death of Gerturde Walsh occurred at Lincourt Manor Nursing Home on April 17, 2003. Born in New Maryland, NB, December 27, 1898, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Haney) Higgins. Predeceased by husband Ambrose Walsh; son Gerald Walsh; daughter Margaret Walsh. Survived by one daughter; Anne Marie (Clayton) Perrin of St. Stephen, NB; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Resting at MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday from Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Paul Riley officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Rockland Cemetery. Robert William Ward

The death of Robert W. Ward of Toronto and formerly of McAdam occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto on August 16, 2004. Born in McAdam in 1931, he was a son of the late Cecil and Ethel (Jones) Ward. Robert was a Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Fickett (Joel) of Baileyville, Maine and Catherine Beers (David) of St. Croix, NB; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Audrey Nason (Louis), Joan Hare (Bryce), Mary Nason (Roland) all of Harvey Station and Carol Juvik (Edward) of Courtney, BC; several nieces and nephews. Besdies his parents, Robert was predeceased by one daughter, Sheri Ann Ward and two brothers, Cecil Ward Jr. and Roy Ward. A committal service will be held at Rockland Cemetery, Vanceboro Road, McAdam on Monday, August 23, 2004 at 2 p.m. Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Survived by her husband, one son Omar (Karen) Williams, McAdam, NB; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers Floyd Laking (Brenda) of McAdam, NB, Maurice (Betty) Laking, St. Stephen, NB, Wayne Hicks (Judy) Saint John, NB; sisters Maisie Laking, Saint John, NB, Shirley Burns (Bill), St. Stephen, NB; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Resting at the Voice of the Pentecost Church, Harvey Road, McAdam, NB from where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Kennedy officiating. WOODLAND, ELDON (PETE) JAMES - The death of Pete Woodland occurred on July 7th, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born October 25th, 1918 in Perth, NB to the late James and Muriel (Carter) Woodland. Pete is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gretchen Woodland of McAdam, NB; children, Kenneth (Gwen) Jones of Florenceville, NB and Brenda (John) Robison of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Kimberly (Randall) Roberts of Hope, BC, Judy (Greg) Anderson of McAdam, NB, Krista (Roy) Christie of McAdam, NB, Carolyn (Chris) Campbell of Wolfville, NS and Brian (Dawn) Robison of Fredericton, NB; step grandchildren, Valerie (Kirk) Ebbett and Gary (Natallie) Cullins of Bristol, NB. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew and Bronte Roberts, Jennifer and Jason Anderson, Heath and Bradley Christie, Emily, Caitlin and John Campbell, Kyra Leach, Lauren and Oliver Ebbett and Reese Cullins. Pete is predeceased by his brothers, Ariel, Edison, Malcolm and Ralph; sisters, Isabelle, Muriel, Myrtle and Gertrude and daughter-in-law, Betty (Charters) Jones. Pete enlisted with the Carleton York Regiment in 1939 and was a Signalman and served overseas from 1939 to 1945. He saw action on the European front. After his return from overseas he operated a dry cleaning business in Perth and McAdam, NB. In 1955 he joined Canada Customs and was employed as a Border Crossing Officer at the Port of St. Croix where he retired in December of 1979. In his younger years he was active in boxing, baseball, hockey, golf and curling. Among his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #7 in McAdam, NB and a member of the Masonic Order F&AM #36 in McAdam, NB. There is no visitation by request of the family. A memorial service celebrating Pete's life will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, July 10th, 2008 at St. Paul's United Church, McAdam with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #7 will hold a tribute. Interment will occur at the Rockland Cemetery following the service. A reception will be held after the committal service in the Church basement. Donations made in Pete's memory to the Alzheimers Society and the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
